Author: Zheng Boxiong
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-03-01
Features: This book is a compilation of Zheng Boxiong's collected works and Zheng Boxian's Treatise on Governing the Peaceful State. It is therefore titled The Collected Works of the Two Zhengs. Zheng Boxiong's collected works were recorded in Volume 18 of Chen Zhensun's The Straight Studio Catalogue of Books, which listed "Zheng Jingwang's Collection in 30 volumes, written by Zheng Boxiong, the Young Master of the Imperial Clan and a native of Yongjia." According to the annotations in Volume 19 of Sun Yiran's Register of Classics in Wenzhou, "The Library of the Imperial Academy Catalogue in Volume 9 lists a collection of Zheng Jingwang, with one volume missing. This book was still extant in the Ming Dynasty but is now no longer in circulation." Therefore, this book can only be compiled from Zheng Fuwen's Annotations on Documents, Zheng's Commentary on the Rites of Zhou copied from Wang Yu's Annotations on the Rites of Zhou, Commentaries on Classics copied from The Collection of Wenzhou Literature, nine poems copied from the Complete Poems of the Song Dynasty compiled by the Institute of Ancient Documents at Peking University, and several lost texts copied from The Complete Collection of the Four Treasuries. Zheng Boxiong's collected works are based on Zheng Fuwen's Annotations on Documents from the Initial Compilation of the Series published by the Zhonghua Book Company, as this book follows the principle of "prioritizing the 'Art Sea' edition, hence it was printed accordingly." It is collated against the Complete Collection of the Four Treasuries edition and the Hanhai edition. Zheng Boxian's Treatise on Governing the Peaceful State is primarily based on the Initial Compilation of the Series published by the Commercial Press, with collation against the Complete Collection of the Four Treasuries edition.
