Does post-coital bleeding cause cervical hypertrophy?

Patient's question:

Recently, there has been a situation where bleeding occurs after intercourse. I don't know what harm it may cause to the body. Later, I sought medical attention in time and learned that it may lead to some gynecological diseases. I am very worried that bleeding after intercourse may lead to the disease of cervical hypertrophy.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, post-coital bleeding can help prevent cervical hypertrophy. Cervicitis is visible as cervical congestion and edema, or erosion, with purulent secretions discharged from the cervical canal. Touching the cervix may cause pain. Chronic cervicitis may show varying degrees of erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, or eversion of the cervix, or purulent secretions at the cervical os, with the cervix feeling harder upon palpation. If it is cervical erosion or polyps, there may be contact bleeding.
