It emphasizes guidance, practice, and assessment, demonstrating its supplementary and extended role for the textbook.
(2) Practical content: Emphasizes the training of basic language knowledge and skills, reflecting its foundational nature. It highlights training focuses such as character recognition, writing, vocabulary and sentences, reading, and writing, organizes scattered language knowledge into a systematic structure, reflects its systematic nature, closely relates to students' learning and life, fully motivates them to learn independently and practice happily, reflecting its fun nature. It strives to be practical, user-friendly, and highly operable, showcasing the authority and exemplary nature of the People's Education Press's teaching supplements. The writing format is as follows: In lower and middle grades, each volume mainly includes "Synchronous Practice for Each Lesson" and "Unit Assessment." Starting from upper grades, each unit in each volume adds "Unit Introduction," and a "Pre-Lesson Warm-up" section is added before each intensive reading text. Each volume includes one comprehensive assessment at mid-term and end-of-term. "Synchronous Practice for Each Lesson" mainly includes key points of each lesson and practice questions for each lesson (comprising a basic part, a skill part, and an extension part). The extension part is flexible, sometimes extending after a single text and sometimes after two or three texts, focusing on the comprehensive application of language skills. Starting from middle grades, the types of single-item exercises gradually decrease, while the types of comprehensive exercises gradually increase. Activity-based and interactive columns are appropriately added. While maintaining consistency in major sections, the specific columns and question types vary slightly in each volume. Starting from upper grades, each unit in each volume includes "Unit Introduction," aiming to use concise, insightful language to stimulate students' interest in learning, highlight the language knowledge and skills of the unit, the key and difficult points of reading and writing, and suggest learning methods, promote habit cultivation, and reflect the guidance function. "Unit Assessment" reflects the assessment of language knowledge and skills in the unit. The assessment time is controlled within 40 minutes. "Mid-term and End-of-Term Comprehensive Assessment" focuses on examining students' overall mastery of the learning content. Generally, it includes 30% to 40% of basic questions and a certain proportion of questions to test reading comprehension, accumulation, and expression. The test questions balance knowledge and skills, understanding and application, foundational and innovative aspects, being solid yet novel, reflecting the guidance of the assessment. Assessments for lower grades should be completed within 60 minutes, while those for middle and upper grades should be completed within 90 minutes.
