What kind of disease is menorrhagia?

Patient's question:

Nothing is wrong, just want to consult.

Doctor's answer:

Hello
Menorrhagia refers to non-cyclical uterine bleeding in women, characterized by sudden onset and heavy, gush-like bleeding, which is termed "menorrhagia" (); whereas a slower onset with less bleeding that persists intermittently is termed "metrorrhagia" (). Although the bleeding patterns differ between menorrhagia and metrorrhagia, they often transform into one another during the course of the disease. For instance, if the bleeding from menorrhagia gradually decreases, it may develop into metrorrhagia, and if the bleeding from metrorrhagia worsens, it may progress into menorrhagia. Therefore, in clinical practice, these conditions are often referred to together as "menorrhagia and metrorrhagia." They are more common in women during puberty and menopause.
Western medical treatment for menorrhagia and metrorrhagia primarily involves oral progesterone or diagnostic dilation and curettage (D&C). In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), herbal preparations that regulate qi, dispel cold, and promote blood circulation and pain relief are recommended.
