What is infertility, what causes it?

Patient's question:

I haven't had any children yet because I've been married for two years. With so many people at home, my attitude has changed a lot, and they always say it's my problem, which makes me very frustrated.

Doctor's answer:

Fertilization is a complex physiological process that requires several basic conditions:
① The female's ovary must release a normally mature egg each month;
② The male must be able to ejaculate during intercourse, with semen containing a normal number, shape, and vitality of sperm;
③ The female's fallopian tubes must be unobstructed, allowing sperm and eggs to meet and fertilize within the tubes;
④ The fertilized egg must be able to pass through the fallopian tubes into the uterine cavity and implant in the endometrium. Additionally, it is necessary to check whether both partners have immunological antibodies in their bodies.
If any of these steps are impaired, infertility or subfertility may occur. There are over 150 possible causes of infertility, which can exist in both partners or only in one partner. Therefore, it is essential to undergo early examination to identify the primary causes of infertility in order to receive effective treatment.
