How is uterine infertility caused?

Patient's question:

A few days ago, a colleague from our unit was diagnosed with this problem. Since then, I've been on edge, wondering if I might also have this disease.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, the causes of uterine infertility include the following several types:
1. Uterine Adhesions: Adhesions in the uterine cavity, isthmus, and cervical canal are caused by trauma and subsequent infection, such as:
- Traumatic curettage;
- Also includes specific infections, such as tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, amoebiasis, and actinomycosis, etc. Clinically, it often presents with amenorrhea, hypomenorrhea, and leads to infertility.
2. Endometritis: Endometritis can be classified into acute and chronic types based on the duration of the disease. According to the pathogenic bacteria, it can also be divided into tuberculous, sexually transmitted, and general bacterial endometritis.
Endometritis is often caused by the upward spread of infections from the external vagina. Due to congestion and edema of the endometrium, significant inflammatory exudation, and a large number of plasma cells and lymphocytes in the stroma, these changes can affect sperm mobility, implantation of the zygote, and its development. Of course, during inflammation, the endometrium cannot provide sufficient nutrition for the implanting egg, and inflammatory exudates also have a spermicidal effect, leading to infertility.
3. Uterine Fibroids: Uterine fibroids are the most common tumors in women. They generally cause:
1) Anovulation;
2) Disorders in endometrial tissue and function;
3) Dysregulation of uterine endocrine function;
4) Disordered contractility and relaxation of uterine smooth muscle;
5) Dysfunction of the uterine vascular system and microcirculation, etc., resulting in infertility.
