Features: The Three Character Classic is an invaluable introductory book for learning Chinese culture. Although there is no consensus on its authorship (it is widely believed to have been written by Wang Yinglin during the Southern Song Dynasty), this children's enlightenment book with a history of over seven hundred years has long been renowned and widely passed down. Despite containing only over a thousand characters, the Three Character Classic is concise in language, rich in content, and covers a broad scope. It summarizes the complex history of China's five thousand years of civilization, dynastic changes, and the rise and fall of emperors, while also encompassing information from various aspects such as humanistic education, geography, astronomy, ethics, and stories of famous figures. Additionally, it employs a three-character-per-line structure, with the entire text written in rhyming verse that flows smoothly and is easy to memorize. In line with the purpose of promoting traditional Chinese culture, we have revised and compiled the Three Character Classic as an extracurricular reading material to enrich children's historical knowledge and help them understand their country's traditional culture. While preserving the original style, we have added necessary continuation sentences and interpretations based on authoritative reference books such as historical records from various dynasties and the Ciyuan Dictionary, and expressed them in easy-to-understand language to make it more accessible to young readers. Moreover, we have intentionally selected and compiled some stories and illustrations to present them in a picture-and-word format, aiming to educate young children to learn from history as a mirror and better draw lessons from it.
