Features: In the Chinese surname culture, "The Hundred Surnames" is one of the most popular and widely circulated elementary education textbooks. In ancient times, "surname" and "clan name" had distinct meanings: "surname was used to distinguish marriage, and clan name was used to distinguish social status." According to historical records, China had already developed surnames as early as 5,000 years ago, and they gradually expanded and continued through generations. In the early Northern Song Dynasty, a scholar in Hangzhou compiled common surnames into four-character rhyming verses, with harmonious and beautiful tones, making them easy to recite and memorize, which is why they have been passed down to this day. According to the research of the Southern Song Dynasty scholar Wang Mingqing, the arrangement of the first few surnames in "The Hundred Surnames" has a specific meaning: Zhao refers to the Zhao Dynasty of the Song, with the ruling family's surname at the top; Qian surname belongs to the Wuyue Kingdom during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Although our ancient surnames are referred to as "hundred," in reality, there are more than a hundred. To help modern children understand and learn this traditional textbook more accurately, we have specially compiled this book.
