I have noticed recently that a milky yellow liquid can be squeezed from one nipple.

Patient's question:

I have noticed that the nipple on one side can secrete a light yellow liquid, without any pain or itching, and there are no lumps in the breast. The body shows no other discomfort symptoms. What could be the reason?

Doctor's answer:

The early symptoms of breast cancer mainly include:
1. Some early breast cancer patients may not yet be able to feel a clear lump in the breast, but often experience local discomfort, especially postmenopausal women, who may sometimes feel mild pain or discomfort in one breast, or heaviness and aching in one shoulder or back, even extending to the upper arm on that side.
2. Small, bean-sized lumps can be felt within the breast in the early stages. They are relatively hard and movable. Generally, there is no obvious pain, though some may experience intermittent dull pain, aching, or stinging.
3. Changes in breast shape: The skin over the lump may appear raised. In some cases, the skin may resemble the texture of orange peel, or even show edema, discoloration, or eczema-like changes.
4. The nipple is near the center with nipple retraction. The breast skin may have slight indentation (medically known as "nipple-areola inversion"), nipple erosion, asymmetry of the nipple, or thickening, roughening, and enlarged pores of the breast skin (medically known as "peau d'orange").
5. Nipple discharge: Bloody or serosanguineous discharge should be particularly noted and further examination is recommended.
6. Regional lymph node enlargement, with axillary lymph node enlargement being the most common. Enlargement of supraclavicular lymph nodes already indicates an advanced stage. G4
