Does endometritis lead to infertility if left untreated?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've had stomach pain and my menstrual flow is more than usual. I went to Shangmei for a check-up and found out it's endometritis.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, women with endometritis often experience lower abdominal dull pain or a sense of fullness, pain in the lumbar muscles, increased vaginal discharge that is watery, pale yellow, purulent, or bloody. They may also have irregular vaginal bleeding, prolonged periods, dysmenorrhea, or amenorrhea. The uterus appears spherical, soft, and tender, with possible bloody or purulent discharge. Approximately 20% of chronic endometritis patients may be asymptomatic and only discovered during a gynecological examination by a doctor. Once diagnosed, it is essential to seek timely treatment to prevent the development of other conditions, the consequences of which are unimaginable.
It is recommended to adopt a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment, as it does not lead to drug resistance and yields better results. Traditional Chinese medicine medications such as Gufuqianpian (capsules) are recommended. Generally, 3–4 treatment courses are needed, with 2–3 courses for milder cases. Each course lasts 14 days.
Pay attention to postpartum hygiene: maintain cleanliness of the external genitalia, bathe frequently, and change underwear. During this period, sexual activity and tub baths should be avoided for at least one month.
