Features: The new round of college entrance examination (Gaokao) reforms primarily focus on four aspects: examination content, subject settings, examination format, and admission methods, with steady progress year by year. Especially in the past five years, the pace and depth of reforms have significantly increased. The examination content is comprehensive. Previously, both new and old curricula coexisted during the transition period, but by 2005, the entire country adopted the new curriculum version. On the other hand, the annual examination syllabus specifies the assessment content and requirements for each subject, adjusted according to new examination concepts. In terms of subject settings, models such as "3+2," "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," and "3+Arts/Science Comprehension + 1" have emerged. This year, the English Gaokao includes both listening and non-listening versions. In terms of examination format, in addition to the autumn Gaokao, the spring Gaokao has also been introduced. In recent years, more provinces have adopted independent question-setting, starting with Shanghai, which broke the monopoly of a single national examination paper. In 2002, Beijing followed suit. By 2006, 16 provinces had implemented independent question-setting, while several national examination papers were also introduced for different provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions to choose from. In 2006, there were a total of 18 Gaokao examination papers nationwide, with variations in question types, quantities, and scoring. Except for the Shanghai paper, all other Gaokao questions were developed within the scope of the national examination syllabus. However, independent-setting provinces established more specific and clear limitations based on the Gaokao syllabus, using them as the basis for independent question-setting, reflecting the educational characteristics and levels of different regions. Through recent years' Gaokao examination papers, not only can one observe the progress of Gaokao reforms but also grasp the trends and patterns of Gaokao question-setting. In terms of admission, universities have been granted greater autonomy, with more institutions adopting independent enrollment. Some regions have even implemented specialized exams and admissions for vocational colleges. Gaokao reforms will continue, and while the pace may accelerate, the intensity will remain steady. Since Gaokao cannot be abolished, as students, it is essential to understand and adapt to the reforms, recognizing the trends in question-setting. Through, one can directly perceive the evolution and trends of Gaokao reforms. In light of this, we have carefully selected representative questions from 2002-2004 and all recent years' Gaokao papers to compile 《New Five-Year Gaokao True Questions and Detailed Explanations》 to meet the urgent needs of students and teachers. This book includes subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Arts Comprehension, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography, featuring Gaokao questions from the past five years in various regions. In terms of editing, there are a few points to note:
1. Starting from 2005, all provinces adopted the new curriculum version. Considering the differences between old and new curriculum materials, especially in mathematics, only a minimal number of old curriculum Gaokao papers are included. For other papers before 2004, only representative and high-quality ones were selected.
2. Since 2004, more provinces have adopted independent question-setting. These papers share commonalities within the examination syllabus while reflecting regional characteristics based on their specific guidelines. These questions serve as references for both local and other regions, so all independent-setting papers are included and standardized for nationwide use.
3. In most provinces, the mathematics Gaokao papers for arts and science students differ. However, this distinction is expected to disappear soon, so the book no longer includes papers with both arts and science sections. To more intuitively reflect the differences in mathematics Gaokao between arts and science students and maximize information within the same price, the mathematics questions are combined into one volume. Questions marked with (Arts) or (Science) are intended for arts or science students only, respectively. Those without a mark are for both arts and science students, with corresponding answers marked, making the book suitable for both groups.
4. English Gaokao papers are divided into listening and non-listening versions, with the listening section accompanied by an audio cassette. For convenience, questions from the same year are grouped, with listening papers first and non-listening papers second. The recordings for 2005 papers were read by American experts, ensuring clear pronunciation, adjusted for Gaokao requirements in terms of repetition and speed. The recordings for 2006 papers were recorded during actual Gaokao administrations, accurately reflecting pronunciation, speed, tone, and listening quality, making them more valuable for reference. The recording order on the cassette matches the question order in the book.
5. Most regions examine "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," with very few testing single subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, and geography. Since comprehensive subject review is based on individual subjects, this book includes both single subject Gaokao papers and split questions from comprehensive subjects for the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, and geography. Due to differences in question quantity and scoring between split and single subject papers, students should adjust and control their time during practice.
6. This book is primarily intended for late-stage Gaokao review, especially after the second round, where students can take full Gaokao papers to assess their preparation, identify gaps, and fill them in. Practicing real papers also helps students familiarize themselves with the Gaokao format.
7. Most questions in the book come with detailed answers, which are compiled at the back for reference by teachers and students for self-assessment.
8. To better assist readers and facilitate student communication, an online service is provided, where users can access problem-solving insights, additional practice questions, and related materials.
