Features: The new round of college entrance examination (Gaokao) reforms primarily focus on four aspects: examination content, subject settings, examination format, and admission methods. These reforms have been steadily advancing year by year, with particularly noticeable acceleration in the past five years in terms of both pace and depth. The examination content is comprehensive. Previously, both new and old curricula coexisted during the transition period, but by 2005, all provinces adopted the new curriculum. On the other hand, the annual examination syllabus specifies the assessment content and requirements for each subject, adjusted according to new examination concepts. In terms of subject settings, models such as "3+2," "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," and "3+Arts/Science Comprehension +1" have emerged. This year, the English Gaokao includes both listening and non-listening versions. In terms of examination format, in addition to the autumn Gaokao, the spring Gaokao has also been introduced. In recent years, more provinces have adopted independent question-setting, starting with Shanghai, which broke the monopoly of a single national examination paper. In 2002, Beijing followed suit. By 2006, 16 provinces had implemented independent question-setting, while several national examination papers were also introduced for different provinces to choose from. In 2006, there were a total of 18 Gaokao examination papers nationwide, with variations in question types, quantities, and scoring. Except for the Shanghai paper, all other Gaokao questions were designed within the scope of the national examination syllabus. However, independent-setting provinces established more specific and detailed guidelines based on the Gaokao syllabus, using them as the basis for independent question-setting, thereby reflecting the educational characteristics and standards of different regions. Through recent years' Gaokao papers, not only can one observe the progress of the reforms but also discern the trends and patterns in Gaokao question-setting. In terms of admission, universities have been granted greater autonomy, with more institutions adopting independent admission programs. Some regions have even implemented specialized exams for vocational colleges. The Gaokao reforms will continue, and while the pace may accelerate, the reforms will remain steady. Since the Gaokao cannot be abolished, as students, it is essential to understand it, adapt to the reforms, and grasp the trends in question-setting. Through past Gaokao papers, one can directly perceive the evolution and trends of the reforms. In light of this, we have carefully selected representative questions from 2002-2004 and all recent Gaokao papers to compile The New Five-Year Gaokao, meeting the urgent needs of teachers and students. This book includes subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Arts Comprehension, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography, featuring Gaokao papers used in various regions over the past five years. In terms of editing, there are a few points to note: 1. Since 2005, all provinces have adopted the new curriculum Gaokao papers. Considering the differences between old and new curriculum materials, particularly in mathematics, only a minimal number of old curriculum papers have been included. For papers before 2004, only representative and high-quality ones have been selected. 2. Since 2004, more provinces have adopted independent question-setting. These papers share commonalities within the framework of the examination syllabus but also reflect regional characteristics based on their own question-setting guidelines, offering reference value for both local and other regions. Therefore, all independently-set papers are included and are universally applicable. 3. In most provinces, the mathematics Gaokao papers for arts and science students differ. However, this distinction is expected to fade soon, so this book no longer includes papers with both arts and science sections. To more intuitively reflect the differences in mathematics Gaokao between arts and science students and maximize information value at the same price, the mathematics papers in this book are combined. Questions marked with (Arts) or (Science) are intended only for arts or science students, respectively. Those without such marks are for both arts and science students, with corresponding answers marked. Thus, the book is suitable for both groups. 4. English Gaokao papers are divided into listening and non-listening versions, with the listening section accompanied by an audio cassette. Considering the convenience of using audio cassettes, questions from the same year are organized into separate sections for listening and non-listening, with listening papers first and non-listening papers second. The recordings for the 2005 papers were read by American experts, ensuring clear pronunciation, with repetition and speed adjusted to actual Gaokao requirements. The recordings for the 2006 papers were recorded during the Gaokao in various provinces, accurately reflecting the actual pronunciation, speed, tone, and listening quality, making them more valuable for reference. The order of recordings on the audio cassette matches the order of questions in the book. 5. Most regions nationwide examine "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," with very few testing single subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, or geography. Since comprehensive subject review is based on individual subjects, this book includes both single subject Gaokao papers and split questions from comprehensive subjects for the physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, and geography sections. While split questions and single subject papers differ in quantity and scoring, students should adjust and control their time during practice. 6. This book is primarily intended for use in the later stages of Gaokao preparation, especially after the second round of review, to practice full Gaokao papers. This helps assess prior review effectiveness, identify gaps, and fill in knowledge gaps. Additionally, practicing real Gaokao papers provides a sense of the actual exam. 7. Most questions in this book come with detailed answers, which are compiled at the back for reference by teachers and students for review and self-assessment. 8. To better assist readers and facilitate student communication, an online service is provided, where users can access problem-solving insights, receive additional test papers, and other supplementary materials.
