Features: The exploration of geography by the Chinese nation has a long history. The Yu Gong from the Warring States period, as China's first written geographical classic, stands as a monumental milestone in Chinese geography. Although only over 1,000 characters long, the Yu Gong encompasses a vast scope, dividing China into nine regions—Ji, Yan, Qing, Xu, Yang, Jing, Yu, Liang, and Yong—using famous mountains and rivers as boundaries. The term "nine regions" we use today originates from this. With the evolution of history and the advancement of human cognition, the concept of geography has also undergone subtle changes and expansions. By modern times, it has become a comprehensive concept that integrates physical geography and human geography, encompassing history, culture, folklore, religion, architecture, and more. Based on the millennia-old exploration and accumulation of the Chinese people in the land of the nine regions, and upholding a deep commitment to integrating new cultures into geography, we have dedicated ourselves to compiling this China National Geography. During the writing process, the editors were also moved by nature's blessings upon the Chinese nation. China's vast 9.6 million square kilometers of land and 5,000 years of civilization not only grant us almost all natural zones and geological landscapes in the world but also blend a splendid and enduring history and culture. This makes the majestic mountains even more imposing and the beautiful waters more enchanting. This book uses natural and human geography as the warp and weft, following a sequence from north to south and east to west, to outline the magnificent scenery of the Chinese land and tell the moving legends left by time on this magical land.
