Features: After the Cold War, the development of socialist parties and democratic socialism in major regions of the world showed an imbalance. Traditional socialist parties in Western Europe overcame the awkward situation at the end of the Cold War and regained full strength by the mid-1990s. However, in the 21st century, some socialist parties lost their ruling positions and faced new challenges. In Central and Eastern Europe, socialist parties, especially those reformed from communist parties, became the main ruling and participating parties in the region, demonstrating clear governing advantages. The Russian Social Democratic Party went through a process of fragmentation and unification, exerting limited influence on the country's political life. This book studies the readjustment and evolution of parties in Western developed countries and a few developing countries after the Cold War. These countries and parties primarily include the Social Democratic Parties of EU countries, the British Labour Party, the Russian Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Action Party of Malaysia, the German Social Democratic Party, the Swedish Social Party, the Austrian Social Democratic Party, Latin American socialist parties, the Australian Labour Party, and the Japanese Socialist Party, among others.
