Patient's question:
There is some itching in the private area. After checking at the hospital, it was found that there is an excessive amount of leukorrhea with a yellow color. The leukorrhea test showed no trichomonas or yeast.Doctor's answer:
Bacterial vaginosis is primarily a vaginal inflammation caused by Gardnerella vaginalis, which can be transmitted through sexual contact. It is a condition resulting from an imbalance in the vaginal ecosystem, where there is an increase in Gardnerella vaginalis and anaerobic bacteria, while lactobacilli decrease. Notably, healthy women's vaginas can also harbor Gardnerella vaginalis.Recommendations:
1. Metronidazole 250-500mg, twice daily, for 7 days. Avoid alcohol for 2 days during medication. Not for use during pregnancy.
2. Tinidazole 1.0g, once daily, for 10-15 days.
3. Tetracycline 500mg, four times daily, for 7 days.
4. Clindamycin 300mg, twice daily, for 7 days.
5. Amoxicillin 0.5g, four times daily, for 7 days.
6. A 1% lactic acid or acetic acid solution can be used for vaginal irrigation to restore the physiological environment and inhibit bacterial growth.
7. Lactobacillus therapy and lactobacillus preparations are used abroad. Lactobacillus therapy is primarily applied for vaginal irrigation and in the form of suppositories placed inside the vagina.
