Seventeen years ago, I had cervical erosion. Which hospital is better to consult?

Patient's question:

Not pregnant, severe erosion

Doctor's answer:

It is recommended to regularly perform TCT tests when financially feasible.
Physical therapy is commonly used to treat cervical erosion, with a variety of methods available, such as drug therapy, physical therapy, and surgical treatment. Vaginal medications are often traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) or a combination of TCM and antibiotics. They typically have effects like clearing heat, drying dampness, reducing swelling and pain, promoting blood circulation, and regenerating muscle tissue. These medications are non-invasive, easy to use, and well-tolerated by patients, making them suitable for mild cervical erosion.
For moderate to severe cervical erosion, drug therapy is often ineffective and time-consuming, with high costs. Physical methods are recommended for better outcomes.
Physical methods destroy the epithelial tissue on the eroded cervix, causing it to necrose and fall off, allowing new squamous epithelium to cover the area. This process takes approximately 6–8 weeks, after which the cervix becomes smooth. Common methods include electrocoagulation, cryotherapy, laser therapy, and LEEP.
Precautions
Treatment should be scheduled 3–7 days after the menstrual period ends. This is because the cervix has a certain degree of trauma after treatment, and undergoing the procedure during menstruation increases the risk of infection. Therefore, patients should come to the clinic as soon as possible 3 days after their period ends.
Preoperative Instructions
Avoid sexual intercourse for 3 days before the procedure. Individuals with acute reproductive tract infections should be cured before undergoing treatment.
