Can I go back to work one week after an abortion?

Patient's question:

I've been off work for a week after the procedure, and I want to go back to work.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, it is generally recommended to rest for 2 weeks after a miscarriage. In terms of diet, avoid cold, spicy, and raw foods, and do not drink alcohol. Focus on increasing nutrition by consuming light, nutrient-rich foods such as fish, meat, eggs, and products, as well as fresh vegetables rich in vitamins. Pay attention to keeping the perineum clean. Avoid tub baths when vaginal bleeding has not stopped, but you can take showers. Abstain from sexual activity for at least one month, and pregnancy should not occur until at least 6 months have passed.
In the first 2–3 days after a miscarriage, the amount of vaginal bleeding is usually equivalent to or slightly more than a normal menstrual period, and it should not last longer than 15 days. If the bleeding lasts too long, the amount exceeds a normal menstrual period, or is accompanied by severe abdominal pain, it may indicate infection or incomplete miscarriage. It is advisable to undergo an ultrasound examination at the hospital. After a miscarriage, ovulation may resume quickly, so contraceptive measures should be taken to prevent another pregnancy.
