Features: About "standing tickets," "spiritual homeland," and books. You and every person on Earth, from the moment you are born into this world, begin boarding a fast-moving life train. At the end of the train, a sign hangs with a skull painted on it. Some are born and placed in a warm and comfortable soft-sleeper compartment, while you are a traveler holding a "standing ticket" to board. In the noisy and crowded carriage, you still can't find a seat that can accommodate you. When will the "standing ticket" in your hand be exchanged for a "seating ticket"? Your heart is filled with confusion and helplessness. On this painful journey of life, please build for yourself a "spiritual homeland" filled with the fragrance of books! Let books accompany you throughout your life! On long nights when the cold rain taps on the windows, falling asleep with books under your pillow, you will find your mind as calm as water, and nightmares will no longer disturb you. You will become wise, fearless, and strong.
About "A Lifetime Reading Plan"
How many books can one read in a lifetime? Suppose a person with 99 life cycles (circles) starts reading at the age of 6, and they spend 2 hours a day reading throughout their life (it is calculated that a person with a high school education can read about 20,000 words in an hour with slight reflection). According to this calculation, even a prodigy who lives to 99 years old will only read 4,526 books in their lifetime (assuming each book has 300,000 words). Moreover, this person must also ensure that even on a romantic wedding night, they cannot forget their 2-hour "reading task" waiting for them.
As of the end of 1998, the collection of the National Library of China consisted of 21.6 million books, and it continues to grow at a rapid rate of 600 to 700,000 books per year. With such a vast collection, its ranking among world national libraries is only fifth. The number 4,526, when compared to the 216,000,000, looks extremely thin.
How can we "salvage" those "good" books that cannot be missed in our lives from the boundless sea of books? How can we read more books, more useful books, in the fleeting years of our lives? Under the guidance of top domestic experts and scholars, formulating an "A Lifetime Reading Plan" should be the first solution!
