What is ureaplasma, what are the hazards to men's bodies

Patient's question:

What is ureaplasma, and what are its harmful effects and symptoms on men?

Doctor's answer:

Ureaplasma urealyticum is the only species in the genus Ureaplasma, named after its growth requirement for urea. Colonies are tiny, with a diameter of only 15–25 μm, and must be observed under a low-power microscope, hence the old name "T strain." The colony surface has rough granules, which can transform into typical "egg yolk-like" colonies under suitable conditions. Growth requires cholesterol and urea, with the decomposition of urea being its metabolic characteristic. It produces ammonia nitrogen, causing the pH of the medium to rise, and the patient's urine often has a pungent odor.
Medical Advice: It is primarily transmitted through sexual contact. Most patients in the early stages show no obvious symptoms, but later stages can cause reproductive system inflammation. It is a significant factor or cause of infertility in women and can also lead to male infertility. Therefore, relevant treatment should be administered.
