Dialogue on Education: International Perspectives and Local Actions primarily collects 38 dialogues between Mr. Zhong and these renowned educational scholars over the years, summarized into the following four aspects: school education systems, reforms in curriculum and teaching, debates on competency theory and learning power theory, and educational evaluation and teacher education research. The dialogues around these topics are almost always based on the realities and cultural contexts of education development in China and Japan, while also connecting with contemporary international educational trends. Therefore, these dialogues possess a certain degree of relevance and foresight, serving as a valuable intellectual resource for educational researchers and primary and secondary school teachers engaged in educational reform practices. This collection is a partial outcome of the author's many years of participation in international educational academic exchanges. The national policy of reform and opening-up has not only enabled us to step out of our country but also allowed us to invite more international educational scholars to discuss topics related to educational development, conduct collaborative research, or organize academic discussions. In this process, naturally arising topics of mutual interest are often discussed informally. The interviews collected in this volume are the products of such discussions.
