Vaginal itching, increased vaginal discharge, odor. Just finished menstruation, vaginal itching

Patient's question:

Vaginal itching, increased vaginal discharge, and odor. Just finished menstruation, vaginal itching, discharge with odor. One month ago, I had a cervical brush test, which showed fungi and clue cells. I was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and povidone-iodine solution. It has been more than a month since I finished the medication. Just finished menstruation this month, and the vaginal itching is severe again, with foul-smelling discharge. What medication should I use?

Doctor's answer:

Local vaginal medication: Metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets or 0.75% metronidazole gel. Rinsing with 1% lactic acid or 0.5% acetic acid solution can alleviate symptoms.
(2) Systemic medication: Metronidazole can be chosen for initial treatment, and the medication should be discontinued if side effects are detected. During metronidazole treatment and within 24 hours after stopping, as well as during tinidazole treatment and within 72 hours after stopping, alcohol consumption is prohibited. Breastfeeding should be avoided during medication in lactating women.
