Features: Since the revised edition of this dictionary was published in 1984, 15 years have passed, and its content has inevitably become outdated. Therefore, the Commercial Press Lexicographical Research Center, taking the opportunity to provide a large-print version, has revised the dictionary in light of new developments in English vocabulary, changes in domestic English teaching, and while maintaining its concise and selective features, made the following revisions: 1. Added over 1,000 new entries (including words and compound words) that have emerged in various fields in recent years, as well as new definitions for existing entries, to keep the dictionary in tune with the latest trends in contemporary English and domestic learning needs. 2. Deleted some outdated entries, supplemented or adjusted some definitions, rewritten entries for "can," "shall," and "will," replaced some outdated example sentences, and added new examples to better align with the needs of language learning. 3. Added☆and*to entry words to mark important and secondary vocabulary, making it easier for readers to grasp and memorize. 4. Deleted all proper names from the main text of the dictionary and, in addition to retaining the original "Irregular Verbs List," added three appendices at the end: "Common English Personal Names List," "Major Cities in Countries and Regions Around the World," and "Flag Patterns of Countries and Regions Around the World." The dictionary contains over 15,000 entries, with more than 1,000 of them being newly emerging entries or new definitions derived from existing entries in recent years.
