What should I do if a physical examination reveals blocked fallopian tubes?

Patient's question:

More than two years have passed because of my busy work, I have never had a physical check-up. Lately, my family has been very, very anxious. The physical check-up results for my husband and me revealed that I have blocked fallopian tubes.

Doctor's answer:

Tubal patency issues can be caused by blockages within the tubes due to debris, shed cells, or blood clots; excessively narrow or curved fallopian tubes; or adhesions between the fallopian tubes and pelvic walls or adjacent organs, which pull on the tubes. Treatment can involve laparoscopy to clear the blockages. For extrinsic adhesions, laparoscopy can also be used to cut and separate them, effectively "releasing" the fallopian tubes. After treatment, most patients can become pregnant.
