After briefly introducing the functions of compensation, the basic content and fundamental theories of compensation management in the introduction, it starts with compensation system design and explores organizational compensation management objectives, principles, strategies, methods, and design processes from the dimensions of compensation structure and compensation level. This provides students with a macro and comprehensive understanding of organizational compensation management activities, helping them grasp the elements that constitute organizational compensation management decisions and the interrelationships among these elements.
Building on this foundation, starting from Chapter 5 of the book, we introduce the constituent components of total compensation, such as base salary, variable pay (compensation and incentives), and indirect compensation (employee benefits), along with their respective compensation management content. Dedicated chapters are also set up to discuss how to manage compensation for specific groups with distinct characteristics, such as sales personnel, professional and technical staff, and organizational executives.
Finally, we address several key issues related to the dynamic process of compensation cost budgeting, cost measurement and control, and compensation plan adjustments. Additionally, we explain compensation payment activities, with a particular focus on the art of compensation payment. This book is suitable for use by administrators in government agencies, enterprises, (public institutions), and various social organizations, as well as for professional training in government and non-governmental organizations.
In higher education institutions, it can serve as a textbook for undergraduate and graduate students in public administration, human resource management, and social security. It is also applicable as a teaching material for independent undergraduate programs in human resource management under the self-study examination system.
