Features: The 5th edition of "Oral Anatomy and Physiology" for higher medical colleges is a new century curriculum textbook, revised based on the spirit of the 3rd meeting of the 3rd session of the National Oral Medical Education Textbook Evaluation Committee of Higher Medical Colleges, held in Shanghai in May 2002, and the meeting of the chief editors of the 5th round of planned textbooks organized by the National Higher Medical Education Textbook Construction Research Association and the Textbook Office of the Ministry of Health. Adhering to the principles of emphasizing "Three Basics (basic theories, basic knowledge, basic skills)" and embodying "Five Qualities (ideological nature, scientific nature, heuristic nature, advanced nature, practical nature)," while strengthening basic knowledge, focusing on quality education, clarifying the textbook's positioning, paying attention to learning from various sources, and emphasizing overall optimization, the editorial team carefully revised the content of each chapter in the 4th edition textbook. The revised 5th edition textbook strives to reflect the following characteristics: ① Carefully selected content, aiming for depth and breadth; ② Integrating theory with practice, emphasizing a step-by-step approach; ③ Paying attention to disciplinary connections, avoiding repetition or disconnection; ④ Promoting national culture and fostering patriotic thinking; ⑤ Appropriately reflecting progress, ensuring gradual updates; ⑥ Close integration of illustrations to facilitate teaching and learning.
In accordance with the training objectives and curriculum characteristics of the oral medical profession, this textbook is divided into 7 chapters: ① Introduction; ② Dental Anatomy and Physiology; ③ Dentition, Molars, and Alveolar Position; ④ Systemic Anatomy of the Oral and Maxillofacial and Neck Regions; ⑤ Regional Anatomy of the Oral and Maxillofacial and Neck Regions; ⑥ Regional Anatomy of the Skull; ⑦ Oral Function. The entire textbook includes 345 illustrations and 8 color illustrations.
In line with the requirements of cultivating medical talents for the 21st century who are oriented toward modernization, the world, and the future, this textbook provides the English names of oral anatomy and physiology terms that students should master (based on the "Medical Terms Published by the National Natural Science Terminology"), and adopts the "Legal Metrological Units of the People's Republic of China." For ease of teaching, the textbook is arranged in Song and Kaiti fonts, with Song font content for five-year students and both Song and Kaiti font content for seven-year students. Based on fundamental theories, this textbook explains basic knowledge of oral anatomy and physiology, dental anatomy and physiology, systemic anatomy of the oral and maxillofacial and neck regions, and regional anatomy of the oral and maxillofacial and neck regions.
