Can I have sex in the early stages of Bartholin's gland cyst?

Patient's question:

I don't know when I realized that my small cysts were oval or spindle-shaped. Larger cysts can cause external vaginal heaviness, swelling, and discomfort during intercourse. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor's findings showed that the mass could be detected in the middle and lower 1/3 of the labia majora, the labia minora were completely flattened, and the vaginal opening was pushed to the healthy side.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, cysts can be complicated by infection, so surgical treatment should be pursued. In the past, cyst resection surgery was commonly performed, but it often involved the risk of bleeding. If the cyst wall extends near the urethra, the surgical procedure may be difficult, or the cyst wall may not be completely removed, leading to a possibility of recurrence. Severe scarring can cause difficulty during sexual intercourse, so now cyst resection is only used for suspected malignant lesions. Cystoplasty (pouch suture) has been proven through years of practice to be a simple, safe method with few complications and a low recurrence rate, while also preserving glandular function.
