What factors or causes can lead to a Bartholin's gland cyst?

Patient's question:

I am less than a month postpartum. Recently, I've been feeling a lot of pain in my vagina. I had wanted to see a doctor long ago, but I was planning to wait until after my postpartum period. Now, after checking, the doctor said it's a Bartholin's gland cyst.

Doctor's answer:

The ducts of the greater vestibular glands can cause cystic expansion of the glands due to obstruction caused by chronic inflammatory stimulation. Cysts can also form after the absorption of pus during acute inflammatory infections. During childbirth, if there are severe scar tissues due to vaginal and perineal lateral lacerations, or if the ducts of the greater vestibular glands are damaged by an episiotomy, it can lead to impaired secretion and drainage of the glands, resulting in cyst formation.
