I have mild candidiasis (yeast infection), how should I prevent it?

Patient's question:

I have mild candidiasis and am currently undergoing treatment. To avoid infection, can I wear disposable 100% cotton underwear? (I will boil the underwear for 10-15 minutes after buying it, but it's inconvenient to cook underwear while living in a dormitory.) After being cured, should I throw away all my old underwear? Can it be completely disinfected?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, according to your condition, candidiasis is very easy to recur but also very easy to treat. You can use baking soda for external washing and miconazole vaginal suppositories for vaginal application. It is both inexpensive and effective. You can also take fluconazole tablets orally. After one course of treatment, review before the next menstrual period. If it is negative, you can consolidate the treatment with one more course. Note that washing utensils should be disinfected with boiling water before use.
