Features: Uncle Tom's Cabin was published in 1852 and was written by American female author Harriet Beecher Stowe. When President Lincoln met her, he jokingly called her a "little woman who wrote a book that started a great war." This playful remark fully reflects the immense impact of the novel. Tom has always been loyal to his master. However, after the master's speculative business failed, he decided to sell Tom and the child of the slave Eliza together. Eliza escaped with her child and, along the way, coincidentally met her husband, who was being mistreated by their master. The three of them endured countless hardships and finally escaped to Canada, where they gained freedom. Meanwhile, Tom followed the master's orders and was repeatedly betrayed. In the end, in the plantation, Tom was tormented and humiliated because of his compassion for his fellow Black people, and was eventually beaten to death. The novel revolves around Tom's multiple sales and the struggle of Eliza and her husband to fight for freedom, profoundly reflecting the barbarity of the American slave system.
