Features: The Yellow River is the mother river of the Chinese nation. It has a long history, nourished the children of various ethnic groups in China, gave birth to the brilliant historical and cultural heritage of the motherland, and made indelible contributions to human civilization and social progress. At the same time, the Yellow River is one of the most difficult rivers to govern in the world. Historically, it frequently burst its banks, causing profound disasters to the people. Shandong Province is located in the lower reaches of the Yellow River and has long suffered from flood (ice jam) disasters. From 1855 to 1938, the Yellow River flowed through Shandong for 83 years, with 57 of those years experiencing breaching and overflowing disasters. "A bronze mirror can be used to correct one's attire, and history can be used to understand the rise and fall." Through years of practical exploration, the governance and development of the Yellow River in Shandong have produced a wealth of historical materials. To carry forward the legacy, the Editorial Office of the "Shandong Yellow River Chronicle" has compiled this "Chronicle of Major Events in the Yellow River of Shandong" based on previous revisions of the chronicle. It is hoped that the publication of this book will serve as an important window for society to understand the Yellow River and recognize its significance, playing a positive role in the future governance, development, and management of the Yellow River in Shandong.
