Patient's question:
What are the causes of an ovarian corpus luteum cyst and how can it be eliminated? Can it be eliminated after an abortion? Or what medicine should be taken?Doctor's answer:
Hello: Etiology of ovarian cysts:(1) Stagnation of qi and blood: During menstruation or postpartum, exposure to cold causes blood to congeal due to cold. Alternatively, internal injury from emotional distress, such as depression, damages the liver, disrupts qi flow, and leads to the stagnation of qi and blood, resulting in blood stasis. If this stagnation persists for a long time, it may transform into cancer.
(2) Congregation of phlegm and blood stasis: Excessive worry damages the spleen, leading to phlegm production. Phlegm accumulates and obstructs qi flow, causing qi stagnation and blood stasis. Phlegm and blood stasis combine to form masses. Long-term accumulation of phlegm and blood stasis can lead to cancer.
The only treatment for ovarian tumors is surgical removal. For cysts with a diameter smaller than 5–6 cm, observation for 3–6 months is recommended. If the cyst continues to grow, or if the tumor is solid despite being smaller than 5 cm, surgical removal should be performed. For children and young, childless patients, unilateral oophorectomy or unilateral adnexectomy is often chosen. If both ovaries are affected by benign tumors, the doctor may consider ovarian cystectomy to preserve as much ovarian tissue as possible, maintaining menstrual and fertility functions. Laparoscopic surgery involves small abdominal incisions and offers faster recovery.
