It delves deeply into sexual development and psychological issues during puberty, making it suitable for middle and primary school students and their parents, as well as for community doctors and health education in communities.
Adolescence is a critical period for teenagers to grow physically, acquire knowledge, and gradually form their life views. The healthy development of adolescents is closely tied to the quality of the nation and the future of the motherland. How to ensure comprehensive development in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic aspects has always been a major concern for educators, healthcare workers, parents, and society as a whole.
With the rapid development of China's economy and society and the improvement of people's living standards, the onset of puberty among most adolescents has become earlier. Teenagers often struggle with rapid physical and psychological changes, especially with a series of psychological issues associated with sexual development. They yearn for scientific health knowledge and proper guidance from adults to help them overcome confusion and grow healthily and happily in a rational manner.
Currently, the main threats to the physical and mental health of adolescents are no longer acute infectious diseases or malnutrition, but chronic diseases and phenomena related to social psychological factors and unhealthy lifestyles, such as internet addiction, smoking, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), AIDS, teenage pregnancy, alcoholism, drug abuse, and suicide. Society, schools, and families must work together to provide adolescent health education, helping them improve their ability to discern right from wrong and adapt to society, thereby preventing harmful behaviors that threaten social and physical health.
Given these factors, we wrote this popular science book based on years of teaching experience and insights from field research, providing readers with a comprehensive overview of health knowledge and latest information on the physiological and psychological aspects of adolescents during puberty, as well as methods and skills for self-care. This book serves as a guide to promote the healthy physical and mental development of adolescents. When children encounter confusion or difficulties on their growth journey, we hope they can find inspiration and answers in this book. This is also our intention and aspiration.
Due to the limitations of my academic background, if there are any shortcomings in this book, we sincerely welcome criticism and corrections from readers.
