Is it pregnancy or inflammation?

Patient's question:

I lived with my partner from December 25, 2014, to January 13, 2015, and we had intimate encounters almost every day. Last month, my period arrived on the 16th, which was a week late (normally it's on the 10th). But so far this month, it hasn't come, and I've been experiencing occasional lower abdominal pain recently. What could be going on?
When we have sex, we are very careful about hygiene and clean up afterward. We also use condoms, but since we relied on the safe period method, there were a few times later when we didn't use any protection. If I really were pregnant, would my lower abdomen hurt? I don't think so.

Doctor's answer:

Early miscarriage may involve lower abdominal pain and bleeding. For your condition, it is recommended to first confirm the diagnosis. You can use a pregnancy test to check if you are pregnant.
