Patient's question:
Patient Gender: FemaleI am a copper IUD user. My last menstrual period was on November 19th. Due to the IUD, my periods have been longer, usually around ten days. These past few months have been fairly regular, but my December period has not arrived yet, and it has been delayed by 16 days. I had sexual intercourse around the 15th, and I have been using pregnancy tests recently, but all of them have shown negative. Could I still be pregnant?
Additionally, around the 19th, I experienced a urinary tract infection with hematuria (blood in urine). I received a few days of antibiotic injections and took one hemostatic medication. Could this have affected my menstrual cycle?
Doctor's answer:
Hello: If an IUD has been placed, the possibility of pregnancy is very low. It is generally not possible to get pregnant. If you are not reassured, you can do an early pregnancy test. Placing an IUD may affect menstrual disorders.
