Amniotic fluid leakage, apart from the feeling of being unable to hold urine, what other sensations are there?

Patient's question:

I'd like to ask, in addition to the feeling of being unable to hold in urine, what other sensations does water breaking cause? I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant. Today, while I was out walking, I suddenly felt unable to hold in urine, and a large part of my underwear got wet, but there was no unpleasant odor. This is the first time this has happened since I started. I don't know if this is a normal phenomenon. Is what was leaked amniotic fluid?
If it were amniotic fluid that was leaked, what would the sensation be like?

Doctor's answer:

Normal amniotic fluid and urine look quite similar, very clear. If your water breaks, it will uncontrollably flow out. Amniotic fluid is colorless and odorless. When the fluid flows out, if the amount is large, you may feel a warm sensation, and it will be clear and bright, not something you can control. When the amount is small, you will always feel a bit damp, like urinating, but you cannot control it, and it is continuous.
Advice: When your water breaks, you may suddenly feel a gush of water coming out of your vagina. When the baby's head descends and blocks the cervix, the flow will decrease, but some will still leak out with your movements. Therefore, it is best to go to the hospital for a doctor's examination. If it is indeed broken water, you should not wait any longer and must be admitted for delivery.
