Patient's question:
Doctor: Hello, I had my period on November 21. Starting December 1, I have been using ovulation tests every day, but there has been no indication of ovulation. On December 3, I had an ultrasound at the hospital, and they said there were no follicles. I would like to ask, does this mean I am not ovulating? What tests should I do now? Thank you!Doctor's answer:
The ovulation date of women is generally about 14 days before the next menstrual period. After the egg is released from the ovary, it can survive for 1-2 days in the fallopian tube, waiting for fertilization; male sperm can maintain fertilizing ability in the female reproductive tract for 2-3 days, so sexual intercourse during the days before and after ovulation is more likely to result in pregnancy. For safety, the 5 days before the ovulation date, the 4 days after, and the ovulation date itself are collectively referred to as the fertile window. Because sexual intercourse during the fertile window is more likely to result in pregnancy, this period is also called the "high-risk period" or "dangerous period." Generally, arranging sexual activity during the fertile window can increase the chances of conception.
