Features: Between Guiyou and Bingzi years, I studied history at the undergraduate program of Peking University and began to engage in writing. Works such as Bucun, Chen Luhuo’s Biography, and Zhu Ting’s Questions and Answers on Classics, History, and Philosophy were published in Journal of Historical Studies, Tianjin Dagongbao·Historical and Geographical Weekly, and Peking University Library Special Publication. In Xinsi year, after completing my studies at the graduate program of Peking University, I was hired by Chengdu Jinling University. Two years later, I returned to overseas, and my writing never ceased. Whether in Chinese or English, I wrote several articles, many of which were published in domestic and international academic journals, though none were published as a standalone book. In Yichou year, I retired and taught at the Institute of History, Tsinghua University. I met Mr. Yan Yiping, founder of Art Press, and discussed my manuscripts, who kindly agreed to publish them. Within half a year, the book was completed. It includes both Chinese and English versions, totaling 870 pages. Over ten years later, my friend Fan Ziye found that the Taiwan edition was difficult to access for some, so he negotiated with the leadership of Beijing Zhonghua Book Company to select and compile the Chinese portion into a separate edition, which was then typeset and published.
