From the angle of historical context and spiritual conditions, it pays special attention to the inner journeys and survival strategies of representative modern and contemporary writers. Additionally, from the temporal and spatial dimensions of a century of Chinese literature, it offers new interpretations and explorations of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and overseas Chinese literature.
The entire book follows the guiding principles of "local perspective, problem awareness, historical restoration, and bridging fragmentation," combining the rigor and depth of an academic monograph with the vitality of reflection and innovation, revealing the spiritual essence amidst the complexities of the world. This book is the result of the Academy of Social Sciences of China's Category A major project. Together with the earlier published works "Discourse on the History of 20th-Century Chinese Literature" and "General History of 20th-Century Chinese Literature," it forms the "Dongfang Trilogy" of 20th-century Chinese literary studies, offering readers a shared wisdom.
