Features: Hematological diseases are among the more common internal medicine system diseases. The diagnosis of hematological diseases and their related conditions primarily relies on laboratory tests. Among the numerous laboratory tests, cytological morphology is the basic method. For this reason, we have compiled a large number of bone marrow smear and blood smear specimens, and have written this book, focusing on the morphological changes of blood cells in various hematological diseases. In recent years, due to the rapid development of life sciences, especially the increasing maturity of immunology, cytogenetics, and molecular biology theories and techniques, new diagnostic technologies for hematological diseases have continuously emerged. However, the application of these new technologies is often based on morphological examinations and simultaneously serves as an important supplement and deepening of them. Combining the latest developments in hematological disease diagnosis, this book briefly describes the immunological, cytogenetic, molecular biological, and other related examinations, as well as clinical features of various hematological diseases, to improve the accuracy of hematological disease diagnosis and make the book more concise and practical. This atlas is divided into 8 chapters. Chapter 1 is on the fundamentals of bone marrow cytological morphology examination, covering hematopoiesis, morphological evolution patterns, the content of bone marrow cytological examination, normal blood cell morphological characteristics, and the significance of common cytochemical stains. Chapters 2 to 8 mainly involve 75 hematological diseases and related conditions. Each disease is listed as a separate section, divided into text and images. The text descriptions cover three aspects: laboratory features, diagnostic key points, and differential diagnosis, striving to make the content practical, concise, and well-organized, reflecting the latest developments in hematological disease diagnosis. The image section primarily consists of bone marrow cell smears, with a few images being peripheral blood smears, lymph node impressions, or spleen impressions (all images are accompanied by text descriptions). Images without descriptions are at 100×10 magnification, while other magnifications are clearly labeled. Most color images are accompanied by reduced black-and-white versions, with annotations and descriptions of characteristic cells. After years of unremitting effort, the compilers of this atlas have meticulously planned and organized a large number of case specimens accumulated over the years by the Department of Hematology at the Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, combining the latest developments in hematological disease diagnosis to provide detailed descriptions of the blood and bone marrow manifestations of various hematological diseases. At the same time, the book concisely lists laboratory tests, diagnostic key points, and differential diagnoses, and is accompanied by 776 high-definition, full-color images covering 75 common and pediatric hematological diseases and other related conditions.
