Features: In 1966, Rodrigo completed his concerto for two guitars, Pastorale. It was originally composed for a guitar duo and was initially titled Concerto for the Marquis of Astorga. However, when the concerto was almost halfway completed, one of the performers of the duo passed away, so the title was changed to Pastorale. It was not until July 30, 1970, that it was premiered in Hollywood, Los Angeles, by Angel and Pep. Unlike his other concertos, Pastorale is a suite composed of several short works, divided into ten parts. Rodrigo has composed over 160 works in total, including 11 concertos, several large orchestral works, over 60 songs, as well as choral and instrumental pieces. In 1939, he composed his first concerto, Concerto de Aranjuez, and in 1942, 1943, 1949, and 1954, he respectively composed the piano concerto Heroic, the violin concerto Summer, the cello concerto Capriccio, the harp concerto Moonlight Serenade, and the guitar concerto Fantasía para un gentilhombre.
