Features: Last year, the Far Eastern Publishing Company approached me to discuss various issues in traditional medicine through audio interviews, aiming to promote Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in an accessible and easy-to-understand manner. For many years, I have been committed to the principles of TCM being "simple, convenient, affordable, and effective," enabling the general public to move from ignorance and unfamiliarity to recognition, understanding, and eventually joyful acceptance of TCM. I am well aware that changing deeply rooted and firmly entrenched beliefs is often exhausting and unproductive, especially when relying solely on my limited efforts. Along the way, I have felt even more the strain of persisting in what I knew was a futile endeavor—almost foolish. Yet, driven by the courage and determination of "if you don’t do it today, you’ll regret it tomorrow," I readily accepted the invitation. Far Eastern Publishing then assigned Yi Zhao to visit, coming in for two or three days a week, with each interview lasting varying lengths of time. Yi Zhao is a highly accomplished graduate of National Taiwan University and has worked as a journalist, harboring a deep passion for traditional medicine. Although his knowledge of TCM may be somewhat limited, his flaws do not obscure his strengths—he can ask questions about and understand TCM from the perspective of the general public. This small book was thus born, as it is not an academic classic but rather intended to promote and popularize TCM. I sincerely appreciate Far Eastern Publishing’s goodwill and am deeply grateful to my colleagues who cooperated on this project. On the occasion of this book’s publication, I briefly outline its origins, which serves as this preface.
