Features: Xunzi, styled Kuang, styled Qing. Born around 313 BC, died around 238 BC. A native of the State of Zhao during the Warring States period (now the area of Anze). He was a master of Confucianism in the late Warring States period, an outstanding materialist thinker and educator in ancient China. Li Si and Han Fei were both his students. Xun Kuang traveled to many places in his lifetime. He studied in the State of Qi, engaged in academic exchanges and discussions with scholars of various schools at the Jixia Academy (now northern Linzi, Shandong), and served as the chief scholar (presiding officer in ceremonies) of the academy twice. Later, he also visited the State of Qin and the State of Zhao. Most of the works in the book Xunzi were written by Xunzi himself, while a small portion was compiled by his students. He reflected on social history and conducted systematic and comprehensive analyses and evaluations of the historical origins of traditional Chinese thought, academic schools, and contemporary political issues. This annotated edition of Xunzi is easy to understand. If you carry it with you, wisdom will flow endlessly.
