What does abnormal leukorrhea look like?

Patient's question:

I don't know what kind of discharge is considered abnormal leukorrhea?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Normal leukorrhea should be white, sometimes transparent, sometimes viscous, and odorless. During puberty, leukorrhea is influenced by estrogen and exhibits cyclical changes, sometimes increasing and sometimes decreasing. During ovulation, leukorrhea becomes clear and abundant, while at other times it is less abundant and more viscous. Changes in leukorrhea characteristics are often closely related to vaginal infections or diseases of the reproductive system. Purulent leukorrhea with a foul odor, accompanied by itching and discomfort in the external genital area, is often a sign of vaginitis. Bloody leukorrhea is more commonly seen in conditions of the cervix or uterus. Therefore, every woman should observe the characteristics of her leukorrhea and seek medical attention promptly if there are any abnormalities.
