Patient's question:
Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: Before this menstrual period, I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with cervical erosion degree 1. The doctor prescribed a box of tinidazole effervescent tablets to be used just before the period, which I have now finished. Now that my period has ended for 5 days, should I go to the hospital for a follow-up check? Can cervical erosion degree 1 be completely cured with medication? Could you recommend some more effective medications?Doctor's answer:
Hello, the treatment of cervical erosion mainly includes the following methods:(1) Medication Therapy: For small erosion areas with superficial inflammation, the following medication methods can be used:
① 10–20% silver nitrate: Apply locally once a week, with 2–4 applications constituting one course.
② Potassium permanganate: Apply locally after menstruation, and repeat the medication once after 1–2 months. When using these medications, handle with care to prevent burns to the surrounding vaginal wall, and ensure sterilization during application to prevent reinfection.
(2) Physical Therapy: Used for larger erosion areas with deeper inflammation.
① Electrocautery: Use a specially designed electrocautery device to burn the erosion tissue, causing it to necrose and fall off. The treatment should reach a certain depth for effective results.
② Cryotherapy: Use a specially designed rapid freezing device to freeze and necrose the diseased tissue of the erosion area, causing it to fall off. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as the cryogenic agent, which can lower the temperature of the cryoprobe to -196°C. Apply it to the surface of the cervix to freeze and necrose the erosion tissue, allowing new squamous epithelial tissue to regenerate. One session is typically sufficient for healing. Generally, there are no adverse reactions, though some patients may experience mild dizziness or lower abdominal pain.
③ Laser Therapy: Most commonly uses a carbon dioxide laser device. Apply the specially designed laser treatment head to the erosion tissue to carbonize, form eschars, and cause them to fall off, followed by the regeneration of new squamous epithelial tissue. One session is usually sufficient for healing. There is no special discomfort during the procedure, though some patients may experience bleeding when the eschars fall off.
④ KS Instrument Therapy: Utilizes special wavelength photothermal treatment, which is painless and highly effective. During treatment with these methods, maintain cleanliness of the external genitalia, and avoid sexual activity, vaginal irrigation, or sitz baths. Regular follow-up is also recommended to monitor the healing of the erosion area.
