Please ask what tests are needed for male infertility

Patient's question:

Please ask what tests are needed for male infertility

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Male infertility should be examined.
  1. Physical examination and inform the doctor about any history of prostatitis, hepatitis, or other diseases.

  2. Conduct a routine semen analysis; if symptoms of prostatitis are present, add a routine prostatic fluid examination.

  3. Test for antisperm antibodies.

  4. If there is a history of habitual abortion or developmental abnormalities, karyotype, ABO, and Rh blood type tests can be performed.

  5. Endocrine tests can first measure various sex hormones; corresponding tests should be conducted if symptoms of diabetes or thyroid disease are present.

  6. If azoospermia is present, testicular biopsy and seminal tract contrast imaging are required.

  7. Recent studies have found that about 30% of infertile patients are infected with Ureaplasma urealyticum, so a semen culture for this test should be performed.

  8. Other more advanced tests.
