Patient's question:
Hello Doctor: I went to the hospital yesterday because of vulvar itching. The vaginal discharge test showed: Yeast +, Gardnerella +++, White blood cells ++++. The doctor diagnosed: Mixed vaginitis, cervicitis, and adnexitis. The cervix has mild erosion.Prescribed medications: Jingdaining, Zhichanghuazheng, Haokang, Tinidazole, Guangtai, Jianliu Cream, Fujianjie.
Question: Because the doctor was very impatient when I went, I'm not sure what each of these medications treats? Is there a more reasonable treatment plan? How long should the specific course of treatment last?
Thank you
Doctor's answer:
Hello, vaginitis is caused by Candida albicans. The main symptoms are external genital itching or burning pain. During the acute phase, there is an increase in vaginal discharge, which appears as curd-like or cottage cheese-like.Pay attention to external genital hygiene and avoid cross-infection. Use antibiotics and hormones reasonably.
Rinse the external genitalia and vagina with alkaline solutions such as 2–4% sodium bicarbonate or soapy water to alter the vaginal pH, making it unfavorable for fungal growth. Additionally, the male partner can be treated. Fungi in the vagina can also infect the male reproductive tract. When fungi colonize the male reproductive tract, due to its dryness and lack of the acidic environment preferred by fungi, there are no obvious symptoms of fungal infection. However, fungal spores in the male body can re-infect the female, causing direct transmission during sexual intercourse.
The treatment for both women and men is the same. For example, topical treatment with Nystatin can be used. Nystatin tablets can be inserted deep into the vagina, or Nystatin can be taken orally.
