Patient's question:
Doctor, I want to have a baby next year. Could you please tell me which tests I need to take to thoroughly check the condition of my uterus? Can you explain in detail the symptoms and causes of cervical inflammation and pelvic inflammatory disease?
If I have these conditions, can I still have a child?
I appreciate your detailed response. Thank you!
Doctor's answer:
Hello, cervicitis. The main symptom is an increase in leukorrhea, which is usually viscous or purulent mucus, sometimes with blood or hematuria during intercourse. Secondary symptoms include vulvar itching, lower abdominal or lumbosacral pain, which worsens during intercourse, menstruation, and defecation.Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an inflammation of the female internal reproductive organs and surrounding connective tissues, as well as the pelvic peritoneum. The inflammation can be localized to one area or occur simultaneously in multiple areas, and it is classified as either acute or chronic. Acute PID is primarily caused by pathogens, and its clinical manifestations vary depending on the severity and extent of the inflammation. Patients often experience high fever, chills, anorexia, and lower abdominal pain, and may also have digestive or urinary system symptoms. Chronic PID is often a result of inadequately treated acute PID, due to poor patient constitution and prolonged duration. It may also occur without a typical history of acute inflammation, and can present with acute episodes when the body's resistance is weakened. Patients typically have mild systemic symptoms, such as low-grade fever, lower abdominal pain, and back pain. Other symptoms may include increased menstrual flow and leukorrhea. If the ovaries are damaged, menstrual disorders may occur. If the fallopian tubes are, infertility may result.
If you have corresponding symptoms, treatment should generally be administered before considering pregnancy.
