How many days is it normal for menstruation to be delayed?

Patient's question:

How many days is it normal for menstruation to be delayed?

Doctor's answer:

If menstrual cycles are delayed abnormally in some months, pregnancy should be considered. If the delay is consistently 3-5 days each month, it is generally not a major issue. However, every individual's situation is different, and if the delay is accompanied by other adverse symptoms, it should still be taken seriously.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) believes that menstrual issues are closely related to a woman's qi and blood condition. By regulating qi and blood, menstrual cycles naturally become regular. Therefore, when treating delayed menstruation:
- If it is caused by qi deficiency, qi should be replenished first.
- If it is due to blood deficiency and insufficient blood production in the body, blood should be replenished first.
- If it is caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis, leading to lower abdominal pain, blood stagnation should be resolved.
All of these conditions can be regulated with a qi and blood capsule.
