Currently, the center's key tasks include compiling the annual report "The Process of Political Development in China" and conducting research on the series topic "The Characteristics of Chinese Democratic Politics." This book is the second publication by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences Center for Democratic Politics following the 2004 report, and has been officially listed as a key supported research project by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Based on an analysis of the basic trends in the development of Chinese democratic politics and the construction of political civilization over the past year, this book comprehensively summarizes and organizes the significant achievements and existing problems in China's political development and democratic construction from perspectives such as governance capacity building, legal system development, the development and improvement of the NPC system, anti-corruption efforts, institutional construction under the "people-centered" concept, the constitutionalization of human rights, and the issue of involuntary migration. As an annual report, this book not only highlights the annual characteristics of Chinese political development but also emphasizes a macro understanding of the long-term trends and inherent issues in the process. It presents the authors' reflections and insights on the deep-seated problems embedded in China's political development.
