Can you use Dianping when you are 27 weeks pregnant?

Patient's question:

I am 27 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing localized itching recently. I was wondering if it's safe to use Dianping?

Doctor's answer:

Pregnant women can use a small amount of it, which will not pose a hazard to the fetus. If the itching is bearable, try to endure it. Dianping contains hormones. Taking corticosteroid drugs during pregnancy can be harmful to the fetus, but the amount absorbed through topical application should be very small, so there is no need to worry too much. Moreover, by the seventh month of pregnancy, the fetus has already fully developed, and topical medications at this stage have little impact on the fetus.
Corticosteroids can be effective in treating severe pruritic gestational rashes and can reduce the occurrence of stillbirths. Maintain a regular lifestyle, take frequent showers to keep the skin clean, and avoid spicy and irritating foods. Pregnant women should use medication for as short a duration as possible and not worry too much. Additionally, for itching relief, topical skin applications can be used, such as glycerin/sodium chloride (compound glycerin) lotion, calamine lotion, etc. Antihistamines can also be used, commonly including oral diphenhydramine and chlorpheniramine.
